Feed the Scorchpot FAQ

Short answers to common gameplay questions about building, rolling, harvesting, cooking and feeding the dragon.

Game basics

What do you do in Feed the Scorchpot?

Build on a hexagonal island, roll and keep Dice to form Marks, Harvest Ingredients, activate Recipes and Cook an Offering for the dragon. The standard contract runs for 20 Years.

How do you win a run?

Meet the dragon's rising Hunger each Year and keep the contract alive through Year 20. Reaching Year 20 produces the You win result.

What happens if one Cook is not enough?

If another Season remains, you can continue and try another Cook. The run ends when the available Seasons are exhausted without meeting the requirement.

Dice and Marks

How do Dice form Marks?

Move Dice into the Dice Keep. Every pair of kept Dice forms a Mark equal to the sum of their values.

Are Dice Rolls and Dice Slots the same thing?

No. They are separate resources. Shrines add Rolls, while the Dock/Harbor route expands Dice capacity.

Buildings and the island

Why does Building placement matter?

Most Buildings sit where three hexagonal Tiles meet, so adjacency changes which Tiles or Buildings their effects can reach.

How do you get more Seasons?

Farmsteads unlock additional Seasons, but the required thresholds change during progression. It is not a fixed rule that every two Farmsteads always add one Season.

Recipes and Offerings

Why is a Recipe unavailable?

A Recipe needs its required Ingredient types. Once the Ingredients are present, activate the Recipe before choosing Cook.

What determines the Offering?

The core formula is Fodder × Flavor × Essence → Offering. Individual Recipes and run rules can add their own modifiers.

What does a Stamp do?

A Stamp makes the associated Recipe trigger one additional time. Each extra Stamp adds another trigger.

Shop and progression

What can appear in the Shop?

The Shop can offer Buildings, Recipes, Dice and single-use Tools.

What are Ducats used for?

Ducats are the run's Shop currency. Buildings earn Ducats when the Year advances, and the Shop uses them for purchases.
